Baudin’s Black Cockatoo

Baudin’s Black Cockatoo is an endangered species found in South Western Australia. For this version of the linocut I have placed the image onto a ‘rusted’ background. The background is created with applying rusted water for the earth, copper sulphate for the sky and tea bags to create the soft tones. The image captures the three facets of this majestic bird’s existence; its ability to fly free, the habitat that in needs to live in, with nesting hollows, and the food that is required from that habitat. These original linocuts have been hand coloured with ink.
